Some exciting news!!!!

So as you may have noticed I haven't been blogging in some time.
Things have been super busy in our home. My husband recently got orders to a most wonderful place!

That's right...England!!!!!!
His report date is November.
Unfortunately after much discussion the kids and I have decided not to accompany him. It was an extremely difficult decision.
Having to share custody of my son with my ex-husband the best thing for us is to move back home.

We will plan a vacation there to visit him and tour the beautiful countries as well as a much dreamed about trip to France!
We have been super busy here going through rooms, the attic and garage just donating and throwing out stuff. It feels incredible!

I did manage to squeeze in a couple projects.

I stenciled this galvanized pail before we left for vacation in June. I love the way it turned out.

Lastly, I have been wanting a grainsack lamp shade for ever! Since I haven't been able to find one that I love at a reasonable cost, I grabbed my craft paint and made my own version.

Please excuse the poor quality of photo I just snapped it with my cellphone in a hurry.

I hope you will please excuse my blogging absence while we prepare for the move.
I will still find the time to stalk your blogs ;)
Hope you all are having a great summer!

Going on vacation!

Hi all, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I was hoping to share what I worked on last week but we've had rain all week. Today is the only day it didn't rain....but I didn't snap a picture because I was busy doing last minute cleaning and packing.
We are going to Houston to visit family for a couple weeks and most importantly I get to see my baby boy and bring him back home! I have missed him sooooo much.
He spent the school year with his dad since his dad is deployed all the time he was finally able to spend a good amount of time with him.

See y'all in a couple weeks!!

Bedside vignette (bedroom update)

I know you're probably tired of seeing this room but what I was planning to post didn't work out because it's been raining outside.
A couple weeks ago I was playing in my room and thought I'd change up the vignette on my nightstand.

Below is the before:

After:

I propped the toile tray against the wall instead of placing books on it. I thought it is much prettier to look at.

Replaced the Mackenzie Child's pitcher for a more natural vase.

I bought a cheap votive candle holder from walmart and with my trusty glue gun wrapped jute webbing around it. I made a few more also.

We had another dresser on this side of the room but I decided to try this vintage French hamper like basket as a nightstand.  I'm still searching for an alabaster lamp.

I'm contemplating stenciling some numbers on it....

I bought a seagrass rug for the end of the bed but not too sure if I like it yet. Maybe once I replace the chairs at the end of the bed.
I hope all of you had a great weekend, ours was full of fun!!! I will share before the end of the week, plus a quick cute project I did yesterday morning...it took longer for me to take everything out then to actually do it! LOL
We are leaving for Houston in 5 days and I can't wait to see my son and bring him back home!!!

Confit pot and cheese platter!!!

I finally bought a confit pot!!!! After having a love affair for years. I purchased it off etsy and it shipped from France in less than 2 weeks all bundled up and waiting for me to unwrap!

I read somewhere you can't have just one and oh how right they were. It was quite pricey so I'll probably wait a awhile to buy another, unless I find one for a really great price.

First I had it beside the stove holding utensils.

Then I placed my butter platter underneath.
(One of the purchases I made while on my blog break lol)

After staring at the kitchen table like this forever it seems.........(cheese platter another purchase over my break)

I brought the confit pot to the table and I think I like it here for now.
See those spots on the table ? Reagan spilled paint and I tried scrubbing it off. Eventually I will redo the stain on the table and probably paint the base with ASCP Graphite instead of the glossy spray paint we used a few years ago.

I LOVE this shot!

I hope y'all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

A new lamp where I sleep

Hi all! Thank you for the warm welcome back.

A few weeks ago I purchased this vintage alabaster lamp off ebay. I'm still searching for another for Justin's side of the bed. The burlap shade was in the attic from the lamp downstairs with the green shade.

It is gorgeous!!!

Kitty thinks so too.

I haven't made any changes to our room since the makeover. Ok I made one change, I brought the basket downstairs to store decorating books beside the couch and put the other chair. I would really love to find a upholstered settee for the end of the bed.

Beautiful warm glow

Another view from outside the hall.

I still need to have curtains made. I already have several yards of toile fabric that matches the comforter at the end of the bed. But I'm not ready to make the commitment yet LOL The same goes for the chairs at the end of the bed that I want to have reupholstered. It is so difficult making decisions regarding fabric. Do you have the same problem? I'm going crazy!!

Have a happy week!
Michele

Antlers and my cozy corner

I had an unexpected break but I'm back and I hope for good. I've missed blogging and my friends. Thank you to those that emailed me to see if all was good, I really appreciate it.

Sooo a while ago before I disappeared I shared my cozy corner with my new lamp....and I can't believe the pictures I shared of my magazines all ratty from little miss Reagan stepping on them. LOL

Before:

Several months ago I got tired of looking at them a mess, I straightened them and added more mags to keep them from sagging. I may or may not have bought a few more ;)

I had been thinking of adding antlers above the frame, finally did it and love it! I wish I had done it sooner.
I had the tablecloth made some time ago by a most kind lady on Etsy after I saw my sweet friend Kristi's of The Thrifty Gypsy. (She and I have the same taste and so many of the same things, its funny!)
I already had pillows in the same toile fabric so I thought it would look really great.

After:

I still haven't decided on curtains but the living room is finally starting to come together.
